In 2021, we celebrated 30 years of our existence and 5 years since renewing our visual identity and changing our name from Samohýl & Co. to Samohýl group. Why Samohýl group? We have grown from a wholesale company to a company that, beyond the classic veterinary wholesale activities, carries out a number of other business activities (we are also a wholesaler of pet supplies, we own a retail pet shop chain with more than 40 stores across the Czech Republic and an e-shop, as well as a brand of locally produced sewn products for animals called Samohýl Exclusive).

Dne 1. července 1991 došlo po 41 letech k privatizaci veterinární služby a více než 1500 veterinárních lékařů mohlo začít svobodně podnikat. Nově vzniklé podnikatelské prostředí s sebou přineslo poptávku po službách veterinárních velkoobchodů. A tak, v podstatě náhodou, založil Petr Samohýl se svými společníky společnost Pharmvet, která byla jednou z prvních svého druhu na nově vznikajícím trhu.
Ještě téhož roku se firma přejmenovala na Samohýl a spol.
V roce 1993 jsme začali obchodovat s předními světovými výrobci veterinárních léčiv a byli jsme v mnoha případech první českou firmou, se kterou vstoupili do kontaktu.
Jako první jsme například dováželi produkt Ivomec (tehdy vyráběný firmou MSD Agvet).
V roce 1998 jsme koupili dnešní sídlo společnosti ve Smetanově ulici v Lomnici nad Popelkou. Tato budova byla postavena na počátku 20. století a fungovala jako Kolorenčova mechanická přádelna. V roce 1936 ji koupili bratři Šlechtové a připojili ke své firmě (Textilní závody p. a. Šlechta a syn). Roku 1945 pak byla znárodněna a byl zde ustaven národní podnik TECHNOLEN (v areálu vznikl Provoz 15), ještě před revolucí byl ale provoz zrušen a následně zde byla část kanceláří ředitelství. Po pádu komunismu byla budova zprivatizována a až do naší koupě zde sídlila společnost HUBAŘ VELKOOBCHOD s.r.o.
V roce 1999 jsme se stali exkluzivním dovozcem krmiva Purina Pro Plan vyráběného firmou Ralston Purina, spolupráce pokračovala i po její akvizici firmou Nestlé Purina Pet Care a trvala až do roku 2013. Tím jsme začali být aktivní i na českém petshopovém trhu.
Vznikla první prodejna Zvěrokruh v Běhounské ulici v Brně, základ budoucího řetězce.
V letech 2001 – 2012 jsme každoročně pořádali Ples veterinárních lékařů na pražském Žofíně, kterého se pravidelně účastnily stovky hostů, a to nejen z řad veterinárních lékařů.
Jako distributor jsme částečně i logistická firma (od počátku provozujeme svůj vlastní systém přepravy a zásobování). V roce 2006 pořizujeme, spíše na zkoušku, první automobil na CNG. Dnes na tento pohon jezdí více než polovina vozidel z našeho vozového parku (v kterém je celkem 85 vozů).
Od roku 2007 postupně prochází sídlo společnosti rozsáhlou rekonstrukcí administrativní a vstupní části.
V roce 2010 jsme se sloučili s firmou Sanvet a získali 100% podíl v síti prodejen Zvěrokruh.
V roce 2012 jsme koupili budovu „Bramborárna“, ve které jsme byli od roku 2001 v pronájmu a která nám slouží jako sklad krmiv a chovatelských potřeb. Původní zastavěnou plochu 3 700 m2 jsme v roce 2014 rozšířili o 800m2 a v současné době dokončujeme přístavbu další haly, která nám přidá dalších 1 220 m2 zastavěné plochy.
Slavíme 25 let své existence a měníme název. Nyní jsme Samohýl group.
Přešli jsme na novou verzi podnikového systému Microsoft Dynamic NAV a zároveň zavedli WMS (systém řízeného skladu).
Zahájili jsme velkou vizuální přeměnu našich prodejen Zvěrokruh. V následujících letech dostanou naše prodejny novou vizuální tvář, která v sobě kloubí kvalitu, design a především skvělou zákaznickou zkušenost.
Sjednocujeme sklady! V průběhu září jsme přestěhovali sklad farmacie z budovy centrály do našeho skladu „Bramborárna“. Zboží se tak přestěhovalo do nově připravených prostor.
U lomnické centrály jsme rozšířili parkoviště o novou plochu s dvěma dobíjecími stanicemi pro elektromobily. V technologickém vývoji jsme pokročili také přesunutím datového centra do nového moderního hostingu, který je efektivnější, a díky tomu i ekologičtější. Dále rozvíjíme také Zvěrokruh: prodejny modernizujeme, otevíráme nové. V rekonstruované prodejně v Praze jsme dokonce otevřeli samoobslužný salón pro mazlíčky! Změny se ovšem netýkají jen vzhledu a velikosti prodejen, ale také systému prodeje: zavedli jsme vychystávání e-shop objednávek z prodejen, rezervaci zboží na prodejnách a elektronický příjem zboží.
Ani v tomto roce jsme v rámci rozvoje společnosti investičně nezaháleli, ba naopak! Na naší centrále jsme otevřeli nové mycí boxy, které splňuji vysoké ekologické standardy a usnadňují péči o náš vozový park. Zahájili jsme výstavbu nové, moderní skladovací haly, která reflektuje růst společnosti a navýšený obrat. A v neposlední řadě jsme pokračovali v rozvoji naší retailové sítě ZVĚROKRUH a dopravy, do níž jsme pořídili první plně elektrický rozvozový vůz.
